    I've been trying to load Yu-Gi-Oh 2010 (Japanese) onto my R4 and all 5 copies that I have found will not load. I get the "cannot read" error after making a save file.

    I formatted my card, put 1.18 in there and only my Yu-Gi-Oh ROM. No cheat database, no custom interfaces.

    I can't imagine that all 5 of the ROMs (which are all named differently) are bad. So that leaves three possibilities:

    1) It doesn't play Japanese games. I went to the site and I didn't see any documentation as to whether it will or won't.

    2) The ROMs are all bad or are designed to run only on an emulator on the PC. No way all of them are bad but they might not be compatible with card readers.

    3) My R4 is broken or the firmware is corrupt. No chance. Other ROMs work. I downloaded a new copy of the firmware.

    Thanks in advance.

    A.-->DS ROMs are not region specific.

    A.-->read answer to number 3.

    A.-->Since you didn't specify, I'm assuming that you have an original R4 (2Gb max). This (and many R4s) will not play newer games, Japanese or otherwise (typically 4000 and above). I wouldn't use an R4 if I got one for free. Get a new (different) flashcart

    Any recommendations? Apparently some guy with an Edge card is having the same problem. I respect your knowledge but maybe in this case it's something else.

    IMHO, the edge card is second from the bottom after the original R4.

    The original R4 hasn't had a kernel update in 2 years and never will again. In that time, there have been many changes to the save file structure that the original R4 will NEVER be able to handle.

    It runs fine on my CycloDS and EZ Flash Vi

    Buy a new flashcart.
