r4 card not working in dsi

Unless that card was specifically designed for the DSi then no it will never work.
Buy an Acekard 2i - there are too many "R4" cards - over 50 each with their own firmware etc, a nightmare to update with the right firmware.
If the Dsi goes into the nintendo shop the firmware will have to be updated, this can stop the R4 / flashcart from working so you need to make sure a fix is available (and applied as it cannot be updated once the DSi is updated)
