So I bought my nephews the DSI XL mario kart bundle for christmas. It has firmware 1.4.1 on it already.

I ordered a supercard 2 and an Acekard 2i to use with them.
I got the supercard updated and working very easily.
Now trying to figure out how to update the acekard 2i, but everything I see says you need a ds lite to do so. But these things im reading about needing a ds lite are all dated from like 2009, so Im wondering if there is a way to update it without another DS.

    ANyone have any idea?

ummmm correct me if I am wrong but.... You don`t need to have a DS lite in order to update an Acekard2i.... I have one and all I do is download the latest firmware from the net and place it on my SD card and thats it.
Either I am not understanding what you are meaning or you are wrong.

Updating the Acekard2i has nothing to do with the DS or DSLX.

I just got the acekard 2i in the mail, I looked online as to how to use it and I saw posts that if you have a DSI with firmware 1.4.1 you have to do something with a DS LITE in order to get the card to function in firmware 1.4.1

I certainly hope I am wrong.

Basically I have a New DSI XL, the mario kart bundle red one and the card wont work on it

So I contacted the seller and was told they pre-flashed it before sending it.

It shows Danny Phantom which I thought meant it is updated

It just gives error, tried akaio 1.8.1 and the official acekard firmware with no luck

Yes, you definitely need a DS. It is a pain, however, once you do it, you won't have to do it again. Download the fix from the official Acekard website and place it on your micro SD. Run it on a DS or a DSi with 1.3 or lower firmware. You can also the fix on a DSi with 1.4 that has already had the update. After you run the file, just sit back and relax as it fixes it up until the next available update. For the next time, make sure you do this fix on your DSi BEFORE you upgrade it, that way, you won't have to do the DS thing anymore. My suggestion is finding a friend with a DS that is willing to let you use it for about 2 minutes. IT WILL NOT HARM THE DS in ANY way.

    Hope this helps!
