Site update - March 16th 2010

AfterDawn.com has been updated! In addition to renewing the layout of the site we have also speeded up things considerably. The new version has been tested on our Finnish site for several months, and during the testing we have managed to improve the new version even further.

You can now enjoy this new layout at English AfterDawn.com and English Discussion Forums as well! We have also introduced new sections to the site, and re-arranged things a bit.

Read more about the update and let us know what you think!

You don't need peerguardian.. in fact I would say avoid it at all costs.. it seriously screws up your browsing options.

Vuze (azureus) has it's own blocklist manager.. it's built in and uses the exact same lists as peerguardian without running it system wide and blocking 60% of the internet from your browser.. pg is a pain for that.. legit sites you need sometimes to look at (dell-compaq-ibm-M$ etc are all blocked by it)

use the built in ip filter it's easy..

Thanks for your help, I use Vuze for everything so it will defo be ok to remove PG2? I was reading that people were starting to get letters from companys for downloading and got me a little worried.

Thanks

It's ok to get rid of pg2 as long as you use the ip filter for p2p ;)

Have a look through the other security settings.. especially protocol encryption and how you allow outgoing and incoming connections. I turn DHT off.. and I only use private trackers for new media.. older stuff doesn't really matter (except music.. they have claws everywhere) and my filter lists stay clear for months on end (who is interested in a 7 year old danish film with no subs anyway?)

Be careful where you get your media from and everything will be good. The idiots who get letters I notice are using obsolete things like bitlord/bitcomet.. and those are banned off every private tracker I know.. I have even set up my older azureus version to refuse attempted connections from those programs.

When you use a browser to look on torrent sites vuze should open when you hit the "download this torrent" link..

as for security settings they are under preferences or tools. I believe the above second link provides full details of how to set it up... or read the wiki (it's linked from "help" on the menu) I use a completely different version on a different OS .. mine is different with the layout and where things are.
