What is the best blu-ray recorder for desktops nowadays? Of course, I want the one that can write/read the fastest and most importantly it should write BD50 (DL) - RE discs.

I currently have an LG GBW-H10N but it can only write BD25-RE discs and not BD50-RE though it can read all types of discs. This is the main reason for upgrading. I read that the GBW-H10N can possibly write BD DL discs with the help of a firmware update but that info was way back years ago and I have the latest firmware of the drive but I'm not really sure if it can write one (I just bought BD50-RE and their on their way here right now, I still don't have them so I can't test my drive's capability).

So if anyone does have the GBW-H10N kindly help me on confirming this matter ;)

    Thanks!

"Best" is subjective. Try Googling and comparing specs or visit your local PC part resellers.

I have an LG GGW-H20L, which has I am happy with. It reads and writes everything except writing HD-DVD (care factor low).

Sorry for the bumping. I tried to research already but it's kinda hard for this topic though.

I would be glad to receive recommendations from the users theirselves. Thanks.

I dont think that os the newest LG. Newer ones burn bd-r at 8x. Id keep what u have. Cause 50gb bd-r's cost too much money. I read that the newest pioneer is selling for 209.00 Go for that.

Lol. I already have BD50 discs so no worries on that part.

Well, if you compare LG and Pioneer, which will you guys go with?

Yeah, pretty much good deal. I got them from ebay. Three BD50-RE TDK for $54.

Cool.. I'll have a look there...

I got the LiteON triple writer. Haven't used it to burn a BD yet but the reviews were really good and so far it looks awesome!

My advice.. it doesn't matter which one you go with. Really - they're all going to do the same thing. Pioneer, LiteON, LG are all good makes.

Find whichever one you can get the best deal on. I bought mine from a guy locally by checking ads online and paid $180 CDN when it was selling in stores for $400+.

I think he's a spammer. I've seen his posts in at least 5 other threads that make no sense whatsoever. Mods should ban him..

Why does Nero Infotool show me that my GBW-H10N with firmware GL06 can burn BD-R DL and BD-RE DL discs? I'm confused because the specs of my drive say otherwise.
