Can PS3 be used as external blu-ray drive to make back-ups?

I've seen tons of threads/tutorials on how to stream movies from a PC to a PS3 for playback. But I haven't seen if data can be streamed both ways...
That is, I bought AnyDVD-HD over the holidays but before I shell out more $ to buy a BD-ROM, I wanted to see it's possible to use my PS3 as an 'external BD-ROM' to rip movies onto my PC with it's 2TB of storage.

I'm willing to physically bring my PC and PS3 together to hardwire connect the two to allay concerns about packet loss or whatever.

I have a fat-PS3 and a crossover cable (and ethernet patch cables too, of course).

    Thanks in advance

I have never heard of it being done. I know a while back people were using linux to make ISO's of BD's on the PS3. Dont ask me how.
