I hope this is the correct forum for this question.

A friend of mine used to have a Sony Dream System (DAV-FC7), featured here:

    http://www.riverparkinc.com/techpdf/DAVFC7.pdf

It was a DVD player that had six speakers for Surround Sound. When you look at that back of the unit, you can see where the six speakers would plug in.

The DVD player is now toast, but the speakers still work.

She has replaced the DVD player with an LG BD640 DVD/Blu-ray player. It does not have such ports to connect the six speakers.

She also has a Sony Bravia KDL-V32XBR2 TV.

I suppose I am a dunce when it comes to this, but I would like to see if it's possible to somehow hook up those speakers! What is necessary? Is there some sort of conversion box, amp, and/or pre-amp?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

what she had was a "home theatre in a box"to use her old speakers she will need an amp.one other consideration is her subwoofer.its not likely to be a powered sub and so is not compatible with most amps.in all likelyhood she will need to get a powered sub.
