Hi, I am thinking of buying a Blu ray burning software soon, But before I buy i would like to try it to see if its works properly. Can anyone pl tell me where i can get one on the net. I have heard that DVD Fab makes some good software to do back ups. Cheers Ed
Use AnyDVD/HD to rip past the worst encryption and back up your BLU-RAY movie to your hard drive. Use DVDFAB BLU-RAY to BLU-RAY to burn your backup to your BLU-RAY 50GB DL media. So far I've found this combination to be the best and easiest way to back up and burn BLU-RAY movies.
Have a question about DVDFAB B to B. I have an older license and updated it. I ran my first rip to back up my Watchmen Blue Ray today. It has taken over 17 hours to rip it to the Temp directory so far, and hasn't started on writing it yet. Is a 20+ hour job typical for DVDFAB on a single disk? When I was backing up my DVD's it only took around an hour each and those were 5gb. 20 hours seems extreme. Would AnyDVD be faster? Could I run AnyDVD to the HD, then use DVDFAB to reconstruct it?
Yeah....I back up my BLU-RAY disc to my hard drive using AnyDVD/HD as it is better to handle BD+ encryption. DVDFAB BD to BD is very much a work in progress. It does do a superior job or burning the back up file to disc "MOVIE ONLY". I can do a complete "MOVIE ONLY" back up in 3.5 to 4hrs. I use only 50GB DL BD-RE rewritable media. This will save you lots of time as the these size disc are "like" sized disc (matchig the BLU-RAY movie disc size. This will also save you time because there is no compression (back-up resistance) of the original file. This will decrease your back-up time.

That's not a good deal....you can find 25pk spindles @ or about $60 to $70.00 that average out to be like $3.00 dollars a disc. The one benefit is the disc you point out are rewritable. I don't recommend anyone purchase 25GB BD media unless you like waiting forever to back up your BD movies. Let's start with the facts: The average BLU-RAY movie (main movie portion)is anywhere from 28 to 43GB (This is not an accident). This means you'll need to compress your BLU-RAY movie disc or file which takes hours of additional time (I do mean many hours). I know many people seeking to back up BLU-RAY are totally naive to what is involved to back up BLU-RAY. Let me tell you it's nothing like backing up SD (Standard Definition) 8.5GB DL or the common back up DVD disc size of 4.7GB. A BLU-RAY store bought movie is a whopping 50GB. Made up of the titles interactive menu, which include special features and now BD LIVE and the Main Movie. As I have stated many times to make BLU-RAY back ups worth your while. You need AnyDVD/HD or a comparable BD+ encryption ripping software. Slysoft's AnyDVD/HD is the most researched & developed of available BLU-RAY ripping software on the market. 2nd you need a software that can burn reliably to your own still expensive BLU-RAY media. That software is DVDFAB BLU-RAY to BLU-RAY . Now many can reference very tedious methods that may include conversion but again you are looking @ unbelievable back up times 8 to 30 hours to convert a single title? Now with the 2 software's I strongly recommend here you can complete a single BLU-RAY movie back up in as little as 3.5HRS. You see the big difference. Now to do this you will also need 50GB DL rewritable BLU-RAY media. Using like sized media to handle this task is key as your blank media has the adequate space needed to complete a 50GB or less back up without the need to compress the BD title which also lowers the pictures resolution to anything but 1080p. I already mentioned here it adds hours of time to the back up process. You should also invest in @ least a 1TB hard drive to back up your BLU-RAY titles to. Once I'm done backing up my titles to my hard drive using AnyDVD/HD. I use DVDFAB to burn my titles to my 50GB DL rewritable media. Now the added bonus for all of you newbies and experienced DVD-BD enthusiast. Is I can burn, watch, duplicate and later erase my titles as I please. So using the most adequate BD media size and type has saved me time and money, minus the headache. Don't believe me? Try it and you too will be sold. You'll wonder why you didn't think of this sooner.

applekim : No it won't play MKV..But U can convert them to BD on a 5.36 standard Writeable DVD and it will play them. It's a very long process, 4 sometimes as much as 8hrs just to make the Blu-ray Disc Now these times R based on my Computer Dual Core AMD 6400+ If U have a faster or slower Comp these times could change a bit Incidentally I'm very PLEASED with the quality of the Discs I've made. Now for just 200 to 250.00 U can get the WD Live Media Player/with a 500 GIG WD Passport HDD. This plays MKV Movies. The older WD Media Player also plays MKV with AC3 Sound, the newer Live Media Player plays all your MKVs even if they have DTS Sound. This is an Impressive little Box for the money Just make sure all your BD Disca are set to the right Resolution [x720 or x1080 ]
N2DVD I just purchased a blu ray player. It came with a free movie "superman returns". I am trying to make a back up copy using Any Dvd version 6.6.0.3 but it doesn't even recognize the disc when I try opening in Shrink or clone. It says No disc. I don't have any problems with regular dvds. Am I missing an ingredient?

thanks for the help. That's a pretty important ingredient to be missing.....but it sure explains everything. Any personal prefrence on a reader-writer? I did a quick google and found a Pioneer BDR-205 for about $250 with 12x write speeds on double layer Blu-ray media. What do you have?
@poplau, You will also need AnyDVD/HD (HIGH DEFINITION). The more expensive version. You don't need a card of any kind once AnyDVD/HD decrypts it...just a media player software that supports BLU-RAY like NERO/W BLU-RAY PLUGGIN.

Your Welcome, I'll end up buying a burner when they get below 100bucks . My 1st DVDR Burner was a Plextor for 150bucks , wasn't long after that prices dropped drastically. So pretty much gonna wait till Jan, Feb. & see how the $ looks
