Struck out with the search function so I figured I'll ask -
I have my PC connected to an HDTV instead of a monitor (DVI to HDMI), with a SonyBD drive and the included playback software (It's some kind of OEM BD Version of PowerDVD; doesn't seem like a retail release).
I run Windows Vista, the graphics card is an NVIDIA GTS8600, I use the latest Omegadrivers. My general philosophy is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', and so I do not let Vista automatically update itself.
The drive worked fine for about a year, up until two months ago when I finally decided to let Vista update. After the (fairly enormous) update, which I think included the service pack, PowerDVD stopped playing BD discs. All I get is a black screen. It can still play DVDs just fine.
I believe PowerDVD is also up-to-date, as at some point between when it stopped working and today, I loaded it and it wanted to update itself (so I let it).
I thought maybe Vista had updated the video drivers and screwed all that up, but according to the device manager, the drivers are untouched.
With all the updates it installed that day, there's really no way I can tell which one (if any) needs to be reverted.
What can I do? Has anyone experienced this Black Screen nonsense?
