    Hello There,
I think my BluRay Drive is junk. The system doesn't read any of the games anymore. But it does still play burned DVD Movies. I am no expert but it sounds like it's doing the same thing as a lot of other PS3s are doing. The games stopped working first and I was able to watch bluray movies and a certain few games for a while and than that stopped working too. Now it only plays some DVD movies and some recorded movies and TV shows that are burned on DVDs. No games will play at all now. So I don't know if I should just replace the bluray drive or what. I voided the warranty buy opening up the case to see what was going on in there. I thought maybe it was just dirty or something. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Wasn't that something to do with a dodgy update?

I thought that the system always automatically updated? Is this an update I need to look for and download myself?

Well I just checked and it says that I have all the update installed and it is all up to date. Is this update one I need to find and download myself?

Mine is not connected to the internet. So I get all my updates from games. I really cant answer that question. You cant down grade. I doubt you have the same issue I had. The update that was on brutal_lengend fixed me. I dont know what version it is or what version I'm on. I tried to keep up w/ it at first and tried to keepup w/ the modding scene. Just was'nt going anywhere fast enough for me so I put my hands to doing other stuff.

No. if i remember right, it was a bad update from sony. People complained that they were getting the same problems as you described. Dont know what the outcome was. I do my updates manually, only after i have read through the 'net to see if anybody had any problems with it.

    Well Domio,
It sounds like you are having the same problem as me. I really don't know if it's these updates some people say it might be. I have my system always on-line and whenever you play certain games the updates automatically load and install if you want to play the game you have to agree to install the updates. I have done a lot of research on this issue and it sounds like you did just what I'm about to do. I have read on a couple other forums that changing the bluray drive is the thing to do and the ones I read that have done this say it worked perfectly. So that's what I'll be doing. I hope I don't run into the same problem that you are experiencing.

Ok Its your drive it went dead for both of you. I have had many friends with this issue. You either need to buy a new one or send it in to get repaired.
