I want to get a BR drive for my PC to back up all my BR movies.

Is it possible to watch the backups from the external HDD I will be putting them on?

I just cannot see spending tons of $ on the BR media to burn.

Get a WDTV Live -- about $120, will play back everything: VideoTS, MKV, AVI, MPG, WMV, etc. Very little it won't play back video-wise and as a bonus, it also plays does photos and music (mp3, FLAC, WAV, etc.). Even better, it connects to a TV or receiver via HDMI, optical and accommodates external drives via USB or RJ-45/Ethernet. If you've got a router, better off connecting the WDTV Live to that -- YouTube, Pandora and any networked/shared drives you want to share. Easiest, quickest, cheapest and best solution to watching, listening and enjoying your media on your home theater/system.

Joegeek I didn't know you where talking about hooking your hdd str8 up to your LCD. You can hook your machine up to your lcd if you have the connections. I'm sorry I misunderstood the question.
