Hey I was looking to connect my laptop to my HDTV. The problem is i dont know which method would be the best for me considering the ports that are available through my laptop and tv. My laptop has only a VGA output. The ports on my tv can be seen from the link below. Could someone suggest what route I should take. http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/sc/33490639-2-440-BK-3.jpg
Sorry, but without a DVI or VGA input on your television, I don't think you can do this without an expensive video transcoder that translates the analog VGA signal to the digital component or HDMI signal. Bummer.
Ok, I looked around and I think maybe you could get away with a less expensive direct VGA to component adapter after all. Here is a link to one: http://www.amazon.com/Focus-Component-Adapter-Cable-SP-VESA-ADPT-R/dp/B000J52U5Y
Dont think that'll work, isnt that converting the video signal the wrong way round (Component to VGA)?
I was under the impression that component and VGA were the same signal transferred through different mediums? I am pretty sure that VGA and component handle signals in the same way... Of course I could be wrong. EDIT: Sorry, I see what you mean now. The male/female ends need to be different. I think the issue is that the VGA is male like it's supposed to be on that adapter, but the component ends are female. They will require joiners, or whatever those little male-->male pieces are called. But I think you can get those for like a dollar each, or less.
