Nokia E71x

I have Nokia E71x not using it for couple years, recently had damaged the regular that I was using, so I removed simcard from regular phone to Nokia E 71x, a day later, received a message from ATT says the phone will automatic enroll in data plan, which I don't really want to pay extra every month, I don't need data usage, my question is any way I can use the Nokia E 71x without enroll in data plan?
