Having trouble with newer games - 80020148 on 5.00 m33-6

#1 26 Jul 2009 @ 13:57
Hello all. I used to have an account here about 3 years ago but I have forgotten the details.

My problem is this:

I had version 3.40 oe-a installed and I have now purchased Loco Roco 2 and made a backup of it. When in the XMB under memory card, the game preview plays with all whisltes and music, so I have it in the right place. Then when I start it I get "the game could not be started - 80020148" error. I have played around with settings and searched for a while on these forums and on google but didn't come up with the same problem.

I have all the advanced configuration settings disabled and I have it set so you have to have a UMD in the drive.

Any help much appreciated!

we need to find the problem games or psp do you have another game you can try backup memory card to pc format it and put another game in ISO folder

#7 26 Jul 2009 @ 14:27
I have sudoku ISO and that works. Do you think it could be that Loco Roco 2 is too new for the firmware? Or do you think there is a solution?

I dumped it using umd dumper v0.2 so it's a full game.
#10 26 Jul 2009 @ 14:40
It's an ISO too.
#12 26 Jul 2009 @ 14:48
No I got that from a friend who downloaded it. You suggesting downloading loco roco 2 iso?
#14 26 Jul 2009 @ 14:52
Of course! But it's just an exact dump will be more reliable than a download won't it?
#16 26 Jul 2009 @ 15:01
Ok. I'll try that. If that doesn't work, any other ideas?
#17 26 Jul 2009 @ 15:06
then im thinking reintall CFW to make sure there no problems there and backup and format mem card then we checked all 3 areas we can what size mem card you got? psp is the last thing we will be checking, friend in work does dumping he says sometimes you get it right sometimes you get it wrong with compression cuts out stuff etc

#18 26 Jul 2009 @ 15:08
Ok. I think I'll try starting a fresh because I haven't compressed the iso, it's 1.7GB and I don't want to download. I'll also try dumping the UMD one more time and if that doesn't work then I will re-install everything. I have a 4GB MSPD

fat32 reformat card in BACKUP 1st so you can drag games movies music save data later on

#22 26 Jul 2009 @ 16:05
Sorry, I had to watch top gear! Download umd dumper v0.2 here.
#23 26 Jul 2009 @ 16:42
Ahhhhhh...Sweeeet! Thanks Mickoz74. New it'd be sorted in the end. I reformatted the stick and then re-installed 5.00 m33-6 using hellcats program.

It worked straight away with no tweaks to the settings.

I think the problem was some errors that popped up on the original installation meant that the 3.40 oe-a was not letting it start because it thought it had old version on.

Cheers for your help!

Hope this thread helps anyone else out there with the same problem!

If UMD dumper v0.2 doesn't work then download xplora v1.6 is an excellent application for exploring files, dumping UMDs for your backup and much more!
