Notepad Reader for PSP Slim?

Hi all.

I'm looking for some type of homebrew application that will allow me to read plain text files on my PSP. Preferably with support for Japanese and Chinese characters. I've done a bit of searching, but have only turned up stuff that is only compatible with older CFW versions such as Bookr.

I'm currently running 5.00 m33-4 on a PSP Slim. I heard you can get older stuff to run using a 1.5 Kernel or something? I'm unfamiliar with exactly what that is. I also saw a few people say it only works with the Phat PSPs.

Any help would be great!

I have a 5.00 m33-6 PSP Slim and can run Bookr just fine. Im not sure if it can display Japanese or Chinese though.

If you need to run 1.5 kernel then do this;

1)Go to M33 Recovery menu. To get there, Hold R while powering up.
2)Go to configuration.
3)Then change Game folder homebrew to 1.5 kernel.
4)Exit.

Does yours run without needing the 1.5 kernel? When I try and start Bookr on mine, it just tells me the game could not be started.

What exactly does 1.5 kernel do anyway? Will it affect anything else on my PSP? I assume I can revert again?

Don't add the 1.50 kernal to a Slim - it is ONLY for a phat.

I have 5.00m33-6 and run bookr with no issues, it goes in the PSP/Game folder.

Can someone explain to me how to install Bookr? I've followed the readme, but it's obviously not working.

The file I've downloaded comes with two folders and a readme. One folder is '%__SCE__bookr' and the other is 'SCE__bookr'. The first has an EBOOT and the second folder has a Book folder and the EBOOT file. I've tried putting both folders in my PSP > GAME folder, but it just tells me it could not be started.

What exactly do I need to do?

Nevermind. I figured it out.

Bookr isn't compatible with a PSP Slim. I found a different version that was though.
