X button wont work and O button is sticky and now wont work at all

okay so ive had a PSP 3001 for just about a year now. i hardly play games.i use it mainly for internet on ebuddy and music. so because ive had it a year now ive gotten really fast at typing so i clicked the X button quite a lot. and about 2 monthes ago the O button started pressing when i wasnt touching it. so i tried to use a tooth pick and mess about with it from the small slit on the side. this worked for a while but then a couple days ago i tried to do it again and it didnt work. so i decided to take it apart and the O button fell off completely. and now the X button or the sensor pad underneath will read neither the magnets or when i touch the pad with my finger like the directional buttons do. i dont know if the triangle or square buttons work because i cant get onto an option to use them because i cant use the X button. i understand i will have to but a new pad for the X,O etc. but is there any way of fixing the sensor pad? or do i write RIP on a box and bury the psp?xP

The rubber pad is not magnetic, but conductive.

It hcan only be the rubber pad or the circuit film underneath. I believe you can buy replacements for both, as they are cheap parts I would replace both at the same time
