    $199.99

    CPU:
-Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz (Heatsink and Fan included)

    CD DRIVE:
    -ASUS 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model BC-08B1ST

    -
    UNKNOWN

    GRAPHICS:
    -UNKNOWN

    -UNKNOWN

    RAM:
    -G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
    x2 Sets
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_re=8gb_ram_240_pin-_-20-231-311-_-Product
    $299.98 for x2 Sets

    Second Build------
    -CPU
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151188

Rotating around that CPU. That's all I have for that just different CPU's meaning different socketed mobo's so on.

Budget is ~$2500 but can be quite flexible so let me know what you think

    Thanks!

I take it there is no second build, as the link for it is a DVD drive.

Generally that build's pretty dire, Asus motherboards are tat, The velociraptor drives are seriously outclassed by SSDs now, and obviously you're without a graphics card, power supply and case. On a $2500 budget if you don't need peripherals you can go for quite a high end system.

    Core i7 950 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211
    Corsair H70 Watercooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181013
    Gigabyte P55A-UD4P M/B: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128409
    8GB Corsair XMS3 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145324
    Sapphire Radeon HD5970 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102887
    Intel 80GB X25-M G2 SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167023
    WD2001FASS 2TB HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136456
    NZXT Phantom case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146067
    LG WH10LS30 Bluray Writer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136181
    Corsair HX 750W PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010

    2258/35

The case is currently out of stock, but at $25 shipping, it's probably easier to get it elsewhere.
This system totals $2258 with $35 of mail-in rebates (including the case), so well within budget. Spending more is pretty much unnecessary, you don't gain very much for the money.
The upgrades I would potentially consider if you do though, are switching the HD5970 for two of these:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150476
That's an extra $125, but an extra $40 of rebates. Will give you a bit less than 20% extra performance.
Alternatively, you could perhaps spend the extra $205 and upgrade the SSD to 160GB:

I have all the peripherals and what I had meant for the second link to be was an AMD Phenom II processor and build around that.

    GRAPHICS:
-EVGA 015-P3-1480-AR GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130552
    $1,069.98

What about this for graphics or is that total overkill?

    Thanks for the response!

GTX480s are hugely expensive and not really any more powerful than the HD5870s I mentioned at the bottom. I'd also avoid Phenom II CPUs as they are a lot slower than the Core i7.

Initially you had an Socket 1366 CPU with a Socket 1156 Motherboard. Dual Channel Ram is changed to Triple Channel to match the M/B.

OCZ Vertex 180gb SSD has faster read/write speeds than the Intel and offers 20gb extra space for the same price.

Sapphire Vapor-X 5870's were cheaper than the XFX's and these have better cooling.

    Blu-ray was changed to a standard DVD/RW.

At current the Asus Gene III is out of stock on Newegg but I'm sure you could find it elsewhere.

    What do you think?

Wow, I can't believe I made that mistake, schoolboy error :p
I spec 1366 CPUs so rarely, just followed the trap.
Don't get the Gene board, it's terrible. Why on earth you'd want a microATX board in a full size case I've no idea, that plus it's an Asus board, which are pretty bad anyway. Stick with a full size Gigabyte as before, like an X58A-UD3R or higher.

Spinpoint F4s are also eco drives, so they'll be slow for installing games, a 180GB SSD won't necessarily fit them all, so I'd say change the drive back to the Caviar Black I specified.

Sapphire Vapor X cards may be cheaper than the XFX, but unlike the XFX are hideously unreliable and very loud. Stick with XFX.
