Ok so here it goes. I built my system in 2010. A few months(close to a year) my first Mobo burned out. which was this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157195 So I bought a new one which was this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130590 Fourteen months in it stops responding. Everything else turns on, the fans, the drives but no boot screen or bios screen. So I figured it shorted out. My PSU is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046 I know kind of cheap but it was meant to be an inexpensive build. So what are your thoughts so far? Any advice? And sorry for late reply and Not explaining myself the first time.
I would probably replace the PSU when you buy a new mobo, but it could have been bad luck with particularly temperamental parts.
@Ripper I figured it was bad luck or bad parts. But I'll take your advice for sure. I've been wanting to replace the Psu to run this Gpu I've had sitting in my room for a year
Well it can't hurt, so see how that goes. With regard to static, you can ground yourself sufficiently by just touching the case before you work on any parts specifically, but I'm sure you're aware of that!
Almost always the Psu. I always put a new one in when i build a new system. I tend to open the psu once a year and clean it out - watch those caps though its not for the beginner. All the dust builds up and causes the pus to overheat and the fan to labour and eventually fail. Besides the corrosive effects of the dust and vapour in the room on the tracks within the psu itself.
