    Hello all
    First time poster.
Looking to build a new gaming computer. I will need everything, right down to a keyboard and mouse. The computer i have now will go with my "ex wife"... So im looking to build one over the course of a few months. Buying parts here and there, so i don't really have a budget set. Maybe $700 - $1000 including a monitor, but no to sure. I am a big fan of graphcis so i like to run at the highest settings i can. I'm looking to save on small things, not to worried about a flashy case, and spend the money where it counts. Also i am not worried about building a system that's overkill for software/games that wont even utilize the computers power. So all i have so far is this. As far as the graphics card, i have a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB in my old pc that i can maybe get back...heh. But is the 4870 1GB better than that one?

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

    Graphic Card

    Thank you all in advance.

The 8800GTS G92 is still a reasonably good card, but the HD4870 1GB is substantially better - if you like high detail, you'll need something like that.
