Im going to build a new gaming rig.The last PC I built was 6 years ago so im a bit lost looking at all the new CPUs and graphics cards.Could anyone please have a look at the parts and see what they think.Im sure the process of building it is the same as when I did it years ago. ASUS Rampage IV GENE Intel X79 Socket 2011 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard XFX Radeon HD 7950 OC Black Edition (Ghost Thermal w/ Hydrocell) 3072MB GDDR5 750W ARIANET Gamer 80PLUS Power Supply Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandy Bridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor 1.5TB Western Digital Caviar Black WD1502FAEX 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit Pioneer DVR-S19LBK 24x Internal DVD±R/RW SATA Drive 24" ASUS VH242H Widescreen LCD Monitor Logitech Z323 2.1 Speaker System MICROSOFT Windows Home Premium 7 SP1 64-bit Saitek Cyborg R.A.T 9 Wireless Laser Gaming Mouse Saitek Cyborg V5 Gaming Keyboard I think that everything.works out at 1943 euro
forgot to add the case i was looking at Cooler Master HAF X Black Full Tower Windowed Chassis w/ USB3.0
great rig m8 but the only thing letting it down is the hdd, a computer is only as fast as its slowest part if you can stretch your budget and get a ssd drive u will get a real boost in all round pc performance
Yeah I was looking at an SSD drive but I dont really know that much about them.A 320GB is around 400e
you can get 60 or 120gb and just put windows and few games on and buy 1tb for storage you might want to save some money on just buying 8gb ram instead of 16 i dont think you will need more than 8 for the time being. but once you have ssd you will never look back.
I think I get a smaller SSD just for windows and the 8GB of ram.can always update that later. Is the PSU and case good enough for the build?
I was wondering does the CPU come with a heatsink or will i have to get an aftermarket? Not sure if everything i have there is compatible with the motherboard?
well that depends wether you bought retail or oem i would get a aftermarket cooler anyway they can knock 10c off your temp giving you better overclocking ability. the ones that intel supply are rubbish m8
the cpu im getting is socket 2011 do you know what cooler would work. One that would fit in because the ASUS Rampage IV GENE MB looks small enough
have a look here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-041-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 but i would search for best price on google also there is this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-037-CM&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395
I didnt realise it was micro either. Its ment to be the best board out right now. What else should I go for?
I came up with this other build.Going for the socket 1155 instead of the 2011 ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Unlocked Processor XFX Radeon HD 7950 OC Black Edition (Ghost Thermal w/ Hydrocell) 3072MB GDDR5 750W ARIANET Gamer 80PLUS Power Supply #47999 £ 39.99 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 3.5" SATA III Internal OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive 8GB Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte #992055 (1x8GB) 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Saitek Cyborg V5 Gaming Keyboard Saitek Cyborg R.A.T 9 Wireless Laser Gaming Mouse Logitech Z323 2.1 Speaker System Cooler Master HAF X Black Full Tower Windowed Chassis w/ USB3.0 MICROSOFT Windows Home Premium 7 SP1 64-bit EN 1pk - OEM Norton Internet Security 2012 - Licence and media - 1 user - OEM Gelid Solutions GX7 High Performance Quiet PC Cooler Price for all this is 1695e I have a 22inch finlux full HD tv I can just use that as the monitor. What do yas think??
id go with that build the i7 2600k is what i have and have it overclocked at 4.6 with temps at 20c on idle they are truly a superb cpu id skip on norton and get vipre from amozon it has a great firewall and less demanding on cpu and its cheaper.
