My pc cannot connect to my broadband after a violent lightning storm.it cannot get a ip address.the modem seems ok my laptop can connect to my broadband.
I have also installed a new ethernet card which seems to be running fine but just cant get any connection to the modem. Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem?

    thanks

did you ring your provider to see if theres a problem at their end, if not try renewing your ip settings in command prompt type ipconfig renew
Check all physical connections, try resetting your router/modem etc.

hi thanks for replying so fast, Ihave done all them things including winsock. The network card works but all it is giving me a error saying limited or no network access and showing an ip address cannot be found. My broadband provider spent over an hour on the phone with me trying to find the fault.I took the pc to someones house and he got it to connect to his internet. But it will not connect to mine but my laptop does??
