I've just put together my 1st ITX build and have a couple of curious questions. Normally I use those gold looking mounting screws to place the motherboard on. I used these but it made the Mobo sit too high and could not put the back face plate on. I went ahead and placed the mobo without the mounting screws and it now fits perfectly. 1) Although it is not shorting out and is working, is there something I can use to put between the case and the mobo that is not too high? 2) My next question is relating to the cpu temp on this little intel atom board. When I check the gigabyte easy tune it is safe at 40 degrees C. Anything over that I get warning sounds and goes into the red zone. Highest has been 45 Degrees. Is this too hot? 3) The case is quite small and can get very hot as well. I'm also wondering if this is because I don't have the mobo mounted? Would love to hear from anyone with experience on the ITX builds. Thanks
No experience with ITX but 1)My case came with a flimsy plastic sticky plate to over certain parts of the case. Looks around and you may find this some where. 3)I doubt it, sounds like just a case with bad cooling. Providing a case model and make would be much more useful in diagnosing the problem, but for what its worth I would say if you pick up some better fans you should be ok, get some Scythe fans. There very quiet and push alot of air.
The case I am using is a AYWUN A1-MW-100. http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/31271-a1-mw-100 Motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-GC330UD . http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3082 Even running this unit with the case lid off still generates a lot of heat on the case. Still sits around the 40 degreee mark.
If taking the lid off doesnt offer much help the only thing left is to invest in some fans to blow cool air on the parts. Sounds like you need to move alot of air in and out of that case to keep things cool. If taking the lid off,is much help exhaust alone isn't enough.

The blue area is really the only place for the air to flow in and out of this case. I have noticed a lot more heat comes from the pci slot/ide connection side of the board. With or without a fan on. I will try to get another fan going like you suggested and see how it goes. One question, should I have 2 fans blowing on the parts inside or have one blowing and the other acting as an exaust?
