New build pc switch on.

    I've just built my son a pc and when I switched it on, A green light came on the board and the cpu fan just moved a split-second, then nothing.

    I'm a total noob to all this.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

    do you have both power connectors from psu to motherboard connected?

    thanks ddp. yes they're both connected, 1 x 24 plug, 1 x 4 plug

    disconnect all cards, ram, all cables to drives to see if still a problem as sounds like a short to ground issue.

    Thanks ddp, problem solved :)

    I had the chassis fan plugged in to the psu AND motherboard.
    I unplugged the bit going the motherboard and it worked.

    WHOOPEEEEEE!!!!!!!! :)

    Now the software bit.......nightmare

    no problem & software is ia nightmare only if you want it to be.
