Hello everybody, I hope some of you pros can give me some advice. Im deciding which parts to buy for my new PC and would like to know would I be better of with an AMD FX-4 4170 4 Core 4.2GHz or a AMD FX-6 6100 6 Core 3.3Ghz. They are both about the same price. Which would be better for day-to-day use and which for encoding video or gaming etc. Also going to add 8GIG of 1600mhz RAM and ATI 6850. I did want to take advantage of SATA3 in the future but not sure if its better to have 5.2 GT/s instead of 4.8 GT/s. Thank you.
You can check a list of what is called "benchmarks" to determine which CPU is a better performer: AMD FX-6100 AMD FX-4170 Go with the FX-6100. With regard to the mobos, go with the Gigabyte. You aren't going to notice the difference in "GT/s speed" listed above unless you're running a shitload of hardware, and SATA III is obviously more "future proof". Gigabyte is also a brand I personally use FWIW. RAM is fine, don't bother going above 1600mhz. GPU will be fine too.
