hi
i have a 64bit vista with blueray dvd pc.
I'm connecting it to my tv (samsung le40r73bd) and wish to make the most from the blueray experience.
I'm currently using a vga cable but my pc also has a dvi port.
is this current configuration suitable if not what is my best setup ie new graphics and cable.
thanx Mc Gáv
If you have a DVI port then it'll be a dedicated graphics card, correct? If your computer came like that it should have a SPDIF cable from the video card to the motherboard to allow audio to be sent via the DVI port too (you'll need a DVI to HDMI cable for this as DVI doesn't normally support audio, just video). What are you using to get audio at the moment?
If your PC already has a DVi to HDMI connector you have somewhere then use that and get a normal HDMI cable, otherwise buy the cable that shokz linked you to (or similar). HD Audio comes separately straight from the graphics card through the DVI port in a lot of decent cards these days (ATI HD graphics, for example).
thanx for the reply i'm currently using a vga to vga with audio jack.
i'll get the cable thanx
ps my tv only has 1 hdmi port which is currently being used by my stb, is it possible to get a graphics card that could run the set top box threw it ie hdmi in port
That makes no sense... At all... What's the difference? I might have to find my user manual cos my DVI to HDMI cable works perfectly (aside from the fact it's 1360x768 and my PC is convinced it's 1920x1080 - interesting thing is I can set it to that in games and there's absolutely no difference between the two, so maybe it secretly knows and doesn't want to own up to it <.<)
