so i'm having a problem with windows 7, i take it to be a rare problem since i found 0 results for it on google. but it only happens with my windows 7 os, and not on vista xp or ubuntu. what the problem is, is i'll try to use my slider bar in firefox/ie/chrome and my computer will freeze up almost religiously i don't use the slider bar in any other applications and so haven't tested it in any others. also i should note i can use my mouses scrollwheel just not the scrollbars on the applications. and again it's been religious about it and been going on for about a month.

    my build is:
    phenom II 965 @ 3.4ghz
    ati hd5770
    4gb muchkin ram 1600hz 7-7-7-21
    CH IV formula mobo
    few hdd's and dvd players
    windows 7
stress tested all hardware this entire last work week to make sure it wasn't any of them
(individual stress tests for cpu, ram, gpu)obviously none failed.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks In Advanced JKL

It sounds like it might be a driver issue; either the chipset or the video driver might cause something like this.

updated drivers, rolled back drivers, cleaned out case, rebuilt computer, completely uninstalled windows 7(formated hdd's etc.), and installed windows 98>xp>vista>windows 7 (gotta break down and buy an actual operating system some day instead of upgrades) crawled up the cobblestone patch to taht church in mexico somewhere...ok not that one, rest yes. on the down side, that would be my temps they're down...like 15c, on the bright side somewhere in all that it fixed the problem. but now windows freezes randomly at startup...i'm actually thinking that the problem is along the line of upgrades to get to windows 7.

That's a terrifying way of installing Windows 7, no wonder you have problems. Just install Windows 7 onto a fresh drive without activating it from the get go if you can, and see what happens then. If it needs to see a previous install (they usually don't) point it to a different hard drive.
