Hi, I been having crashing problems for ages. I mostly keep crashing in games, but sometimes during burning and other heavy tasks as well. I'm pretty sure it isn't my software because i reformat and ghosted my computer many times over. Right now i'm trying to deduce which hardware is causing the problem. First component i thought that was causing the crashes was my GPU, 4870HD. But here's the real question i want to ask you guys. Does GPU being faulty or overheating cause crashes during burning or other heavy tasks? Cause my GPU idle tempurature is 68 degrees, so i figured it could be my GPU, but not so sure after it keep crashing during burning and video converting. EDIT: Sorry, posted this thread in the wrong section, Here's the correct thread URL>> http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-111/mysterious_crashes-829107/ ...How do i get rid of this thread?
The 4800 series video cards (RV770Pro chips) max out at 105 celcius. Even my lowly 4670 idles in the 60 celcius range. I think your gpu is good, you can always stick another case fan near that area to cool it down some more. What size Power supply do you have, and what OS are you using?
For cooling the gpu I would suggest RivaTunner. On my 4890 I put the fan on 65% all the time and it keeps it down to about 55*C. Try running memtest86+ and see if your RAM is ok.
I'll close this one and put a note in the other one so people can refer back to the replies in this one
