Hi all, Hope you can advise me. I am thinking of swapping/exchanging my Nokia 97 for an 8Gig iphone 3g on O2 from www.cex.co.uk Before I do I am sure there are things i need to know first. I do not have an O2 sim so will need to jailbreak and unlock it. Do i have to make sure I get a certain firmware version? Or can all firmware versions now be jailbroken and unlocked. Do I need to have a O2 sim in order to perform the jailbreak and unlocking. When I turn on the phone will it complain and ask me for a sim to be inserted like some phones you cant access anything until you insert a Sim. Sorry for what may seem silly questions but I am new to iphone and although i have searched and the process seems easy it does not say anything about if i will need a sim already.. Thanks.
any FW version can be jailbroken. just make sure you use redsn0w .80 as its the newest. you dont need a sim in while jailbreaking. youll be able to access 'things' even if you dont have a sim in, you just wont be able to make calls obviously.
I would agree with wabashman, it's a very simple process. If you just give it a shot, you'd be surprised how easy it is to do yourself.
