I have a tethered jailbroken iPhone 3gs running 3.1.2. I want to restore it to 3.1.3 so I can perform a untethered jailbreak. How do I restore it to 3.1.3 as iTunes will only let me restore it to 4.0.1? Please help thanks
Hi! ^^ When you go into Cydia does it say at the top of the home screen, this device has shsh's on file for... Then a list of firmware revisions? Like mine for example says 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1 If it does then you're in luck, if not then there isn't a way! :-( If it does say there is and shsh for 3.1.3 then browse to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" on Windows or "/etc" on Mac OS X and open the hosts file in notepad and add this "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" to the bottom of the notepad, without the quotes and save it. Then download 3.1.3 firmware and restore in iTunes by holding shift and pressing restore and browse to the firmware file, then after restore jailbreak with your chosen method! ^^ Hope this helps! ^^ I almost forgot, you can download the firmware from here
This can be found at the top of the Cydia home screen. It's in green text. It will look like this. Sorry for the crappy pic... >.< I'm at work and the first thing I could find with a camera was an old Nokia... lol Anyway, if you see anything similar to that and it says 3.1.3 then you're good to go with the above steps! ^o^
Unfortunately you will be stuck on 3.1.2 until the release an untethered jailbreak for the new 4.0.1 for all devices...
I don't know. There has been a release for 3g, but nothing for 3gs or iphone 4. Edit - Because your iphone has the newer bootrom aswell, it's prob gonna take that little bit longer.
