iphone help?

    hi everyone ive just got my iphone today,still in box ,and im just wondering before i open it and connect it to my laptop what should i do,connect it to itunes or is there something else i can connect to and unlock it tonight .i got it on contract and want to use other sim cards on it and hell i might not want to live out the 18 months of my contract either?so any help appreciated for this amateur?
