New To Iphone

    I have just got an 8gb iphone 3g have not been to impressed with it. tried to put some ringtones on it but couldnt. is there a way to do that. Also what are some of the perks to jailbreaking it. If someone could help. thanks

    The way I do it without jailbreaking is...
    Use itunes to play the song you want to create the ringtone from. Once it is playing in itunes right click on it and go to get info. Then go to options and choose the 30 seconds of the song you want with the start and stop option. next you want to create a .aac version of the song you just made into a 30 second clip of. right click on the song and choose create a aac version. save it to your desktop or somewhere you will be able to find it. when it is done go into your control panel and go to folder options. uncheck the option of hide known file type extentions. now go back to you aac version of your song and rename the file extention from .aac to .m4r

    after that the icon should change to a ringtone type. know you can use as a ringtone just sync it to your ringtones on your phone.

    or you could download one of a million applications that will make ringtones for you. i use iringer, and it works perfectly. after you get done making it, it sends it directly to the itunes ringtone folder.
