    I have a 320gb Western Digital Mybook

I tried putting a bunch of soccer highlights and full matches onto all with different formats, but it seems the only one it can play is an .avi.

Well today I tried putting an .avi I downloaded from my mac and put it on there, hooked it up to my television and tried to play it, I got a message saying "codec not supported" I don't understand, because it's an .avi just like all the other videos I have on the HDD.

    Any suggestions?

well the "codec not supported' means the video file you are trying to play isnt supported. An avi file can mean various different types of video(usually divx or xvid).try gspot to see what type of file it is or 4cc changer to change the file type.

edit:the type of file you can play will be limited depending on what you connected the HDD to not whats on the HDD.
