3D tv or just 3D dvd player

If i buy a 3D dvd player will it be in 3D on my standard 1080p 120hz flatscreen. Or do I need a 3D tv/dvd player combo.

How many dvd's does one 3D movie make?
3D BD = 1 or 2 50Gb Blu-ray Discs, 3D DVD = 6 or 12 DVD Discs ;) Please insert disc 7 of 12...
