avi to mpeg4

#1 06 Apr 2011 @ 5:49
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to transfer a 2 hour recording from a professional sony camera smart card AVI file to an mpeg4 file onto a USB stick. After the recording I only have 20 minutes to convert the AVI file to a USB stick which I then need to duplicate 30 times. I can get a duplicator to copy the USB stick but I am also unsure how long this will take. I am filming on a sony 270 professional camera.
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
Cheers,
Kevin

ok.. first question.. what actual codec is the camera using for avi? .. it could already be mp4.. (mp4 is another wrapper just like avi.. could be any one of a load of different codecs buried in there) if you are lucky all you will have to do is rename the copied file.

secondly.. you might not have time in 20 mins to convert a 2 hour xvid or h264 to mpeg4 with a 2 hour run time.. unless you have one hell of a cluster/supercomputer.

the copying is easy.. plug in 30 sticks (or as many as your usb hub will take).. and copy/paste.. should take a few minutes at most.
