Portion of audio drops using ConvertXtoDVD

#1 08 Jan 2013 @ 12:48
I'm currently working on a project to edit a DVD. I open the DVD in DVDShrink (and I tried pulling the files out with various other programs such as AnyDVD). In DVDShrink, I adjust the start and end points to edit out several scenes. Then, I use ConvertXtoDVD to stitch them back together. This normally works like a charm for me. However, with this particular source, all audio and video is great, except for a small portion where the sound is dropped, then it comes back magically - there are no cut portions near where the sound drops. Any help or suggestions?

I choose this method because it's so much easier to cut out scenes using DVD Shrink, and ConvertX can stitch them back together with no blips or pauses in playback. I don't have Nero or other pricey or space-hog options. I need free and light, or very close to it. :)

I have tried Any Video converter to stitch the scenes back together, and it seems to work, but the quality is crappy. I set it to source quality, but it is still not good.

I want to reburn a DVD with the edited files.
PC Windows 7, last version of DVD Shrink and latest of ConvertX.

Load the various VOB files into DVD Flick and create a new DVD.
1. Add the first VOB.
2,3,4. Merge all the other VOB files (check the order).
5.In Project Settings > Video > Advanced, set 'Copy mpeg2 streams'
6.Create the DVD.

After what process are you missing the sound? Are you sure the original original source is fine? How is the file after edited with DVD Shrink? If it is fine there then that supposes the problem is introduced by ConvertXtoDVD unless the problem started before you loaded the files in ConvertXtoDVD.

I will give that a try. Thanks!

It is definitely ConvertXtoDVD. Sound is still there after DVDShrink, and the source is fine. I even tried changing from aac to mpeg sound in ConvertX and it still doesn't work. DVDFab drops the sound as well, even though I choose mpeg sound. However, I was able to get a working copy from Any Video Converter, but the quality was poor. I will live with it if I try DVD Flick (suggestion from another user) and do not get the desired results.

I am sure VSO would be happy to look at the problem to fix it. If the audio plays correctly in the preview the fix should be simple for them. In anycase they may ask for the source file (the one you are loading in CXD) in order to solve the problem.

Here is the link to contact VSO
