I have a foreign language film in Matroska format that I’ve converted to H.264 video using Xilisoft video converter standard 6. The H.264 video does not have any subtitles.
There are subtitles with the original file as I’ve converted it with ConvertXtoDVD and the resulting DVD does have the subtitles.
How do I get Xilisoft video converter to include the subtitles?

you don't.. you use a proper converter not that spammerware.. rip the subs from the original file first then you can work with them.

Can you recommend a better converter?
I've favoured Xilisoft as it uses GPU acceleration to speed up the converting process.

i think winx HD video converter deluxe can solve your problem. i bought it couple of months ago and used it to convert many MKV videos, no loss of subtitles.
