This is a very bad move in my personal opinion, you can argue that the DSi in Japan has now been out for a year but the device in the U.S. has just come out this year, I feel ripped off even tough I hadn't bought a DSi yet but were getting the same resolution as the original three devices just a large screen, however this will be better for people like myself for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days it will probably fix the slow downs that it has on the original DS's but other then that ere just getting the same DSi with a larger screen .

Interesting, I didn't expect the battery life to drop so drastically from the lite to the dsi.

It didn't. It's better, actually. The "Medium" Brightness on the DSi (And I assume the XL) are the Lite's maximum brightness.

You also have a mic and camera sucking that power. Battery for DSi is probably the same as the Lite.
