After years of faithful service I think my burner is finally giving up on me. I've been away from the DVD scene for a while. What are the top burners now? Think it was plextor, lite-on, benq when I left it. Thanks for any help.

BenQ aren't in production anymore and Plextor are usually expensive. Go with Pioneer (personal preference) or LiteOn.
