Hi all,

All I want to do is record from my line in jack! I do not have Wave Out Mix or anything like that in my Recording tab in the Sounds properties window, even when I show disabled devices. I have a 3.5mm cable plugged into the line in jack on my laptop from my tape deck line out. The line out works when I plug into my hifi but I cannot seem to get my computer to pick up the line in feed at all! It's really annoying! I have looked all over the place for a soloution to this problem but have not found one as yet.

Can anyone help?!

what program are you using to record with? maybe its possible that you're not getting any audio from the line in jack because until you use a recording program to activate it you won't hear anything. also, you have a line in jack on your laptop? thats kinda strange, most laptops just have a line out and a mic input.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

What chipset are you using? I will assume you are not using a sound card. Mine went bad within a month of installation. It wasn't worth sending the mobo back. I had hours setting that up. I bought a garbage app that was going to fix the problem but that was just throwing good money after bad. I just bought a card for $25. It has worked for years. I think it was real tech. We are not the only ones with that problem.
