navigation in huge mp3 files

Hello folks,
I want to manage a huge mp3 file and navigating through it as it was a book, I want to choose "chapters" and to hear them by clicking on a readable index.
Perhaps building a cue file could make the job.
I could use mp3directcut in order to find the relevant timing for the "chapters", but it is horribly boring to edit the correspondent cue file.
I'm sure that a solution exists, but I am not able to find it
