So, first of all, I dont know if this is the right place to post this. Second, sorry if this has been asked before, but I want some answers.

So, I got some .mkv video files with subtitles and I must make them compatible on my Xbox 360. So, how could I convert them to MPEG4 or WMV or avi or whatever Xbox 360 runs, dont remember. I tried something, like the tutorial in afterdawn.com involving the GOTSent, but even after doing everything like the guide said, It was a bit...unclear, it took pretty long time and I wasnt exactly sure what I was doing, and I ended up with a video file with no image or sound. And 2x shorter that the original.

I also tried some...encode360 or something, but it didnt quite work out...best success seemed to be XenonMKV (I converted one with decent quality but a bit crappy sound in pretty short time, Im sure its about the settings thou), but it only converts the video. So I would need an encoder too right? But, I dont know how these things work out, I cant really embed the subtitles into the .mkv, and I cant imagine a way to embed them when the file is mp4 or wmv.

Any help, please! I have plenty of these files, I dont want it to take too much time - but I really need a way to make them possible to watch on Xbox. Im sure there is alot people who would also like to watch their .mkv's on xbox or ps3 or some portable devices (Im really getting a bit pissed of these .mkv videos, I never need dual audio or multiple subtitles, and it always makes it harder to put on my iPod or PSP or some other things...grr).

Xillisoft makes a great converter but you have to buy it. There are 2 free ones...Any Video Converter and Prism Video Conveter. Both work well. Simply Google the latter 2 and download them.
