DVDrip can't play on my Samsung Blue-Ray player

I just downloaded the movie 2012 as a DVDrip and burned it on a DVD with NERO and now cannot play it on my Blue Ray player. Is there something wrong on how I burned the file onto the DVD or is it just not a supported file type on my player? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok....what I am trying to say is that I need to convert an "AVI" file into something my blu ray can play.

You can convert it to DVD or AVCHD

DVD Flick will convert to a DVD.
