i have a sony camera that writes to mini-dvd disc in 'video' format. this creates bup,ifo,vob files. i just noticed today that i created files of 01.vob (1040384 kb) and 02.vob (355872 kb) are the same video. i thought perhaps one had more resolution or something but the properties listed in windows media player for both are 720X480 4:3, 1.78:1 displayed aspect ratio. why is 1 3 times as big as the other? if i wish to merge many video files into a family movie should i use the larger? thanks. jim
Are you sure 02.vob is not a continuation of 01 ? By convention, the vob's have a max size of 1GB, then more are created as necessary, with consecutive numbers.

hmm. never thot of that, just went back and looked at a couple of other folders i had made of 'copies' from the mini-dvds. they all have the 1gig bigger file and a 400ish meg smaller file that are dups of 1 another. havent a clue whats up. thanks. jim
