    Hi Guys,

I brought a DVR-6805 camera system card, it came with free software from Skybest, after some research I have found that it is cheap software made by ShenZhen Skybest Electronic Co.,Ltd, I didn’t want anything fancy just something that recorded video that I could playback later should anything happen in our shop, the software is pretty good, I can record and play back as much as I like, it also have a camera server built it which was really easy to setup, now I can login to my static ip and view all the camera's,
on the 27th of dec a water pipe burst and flooded our shop, I have all of the footage, I can view it all on view the Skybest DVR-6805, the problem I have is I cannot view the footage via anything else, I have tried all sorts of converters and decoders, I have installed every kind of codec relevant but nothing seems to work, the video settings are....

    Compression algorithm = H264
Encode is set to = CBR 650

Now I don’t know too much about video codec’s, (thought I knew a bit) but can anyone out there help me with this, I need to be able to send the video to the insurance people, I can drag the clips out of the store folder of the DVR but cannot play it at all unless I run it via the DVR it was recorded on,

Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas will be most welcome, I could upload a clip for experiential purposes, (if you need to poke and prod it)

    Regards,

    Mike.

Try VLC, it's codecs are self contained.

    Hi Attar,

thanks for your reply, i have tried VLC, it does see the file but wont play it, it would appear that a lot of players are saying that the file is either empty or cannot find the chapters, VLC just plays 1 secs of blank footage, the file is playable via the DVR so i know the file is a worker, one thing i forgot to mention is that the DVR is saving the file with the extension .mpg, i have noticed that H.264 is rather saved in .MP4, would this have any impact?

    VLC can play either format.
    Upload ten seconds to MediaFire.
