cant edit video taken on phone

    Hi there

    I took a video clip on my LG renoir phone and ive tried editing it with Windows Movie Maker and Sony Vegas Movie Studio. With Win Mov maker it tells me i dont have the right codec installed on my pc and wont import the movie file.
    With Sony Movie Studio it wont let me transfer the file to the timeline for editing.

    Its an avi file and it plays on my PC no problem but all i want to do is crop it.

    Any ideas?

    Try AviDemux.
    If it can't handle it, use MediaInfo to find out the codecs that were used for the video/audio.

    Thanks attar.

    I used MediaInfo and it directed me to the right codec to install. It was the Divx5 codec i was missing on my PC. All sorted now.
