Hello, I'm sorry if this problem has been solved in this forum, but i tried going through the topics and trying some of the solutions but was unsuccessful. I use a multimedia drive (iomega screenplay hd to be exact) to reproduce movies on tv. Unfortunately it doesn't support many files, including .mkv. The filed i'v been trying to reproduce is: Transformers.Revenge.of.the.Fallen.2009.720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-Prestige The files my multimedia drive will support are at this link: if anyone can help me, i've lost hours trying to do this and i'm losing hope....

Thanks for the suggestion cyprusrom. I used the program and this time at least the sound was syncronized. I chaged the frame size you suggested to 1280x534 which is the original frame size. However there was some quality loss. The original file is 8Gb, the avi file became 2,3Gb. I wouldn't mind if the file were larger as long as it had more quality. Do you think that can be achieved with this changing process?
i'm trying that now... the codecs are still not supported on my multimedia drive so i'm chaging them to mpeg-4 and mp3 which should work...hope that's not going to make the quality even worse..
I don't think is the codec that is not supported, is the resolution too high. It says it does not support xvid HD/ Divx HD, drop the resolution to 720x480 or lower.
Not necessarily, and depends on your display too...however, you don't really have a choice, since the player does not support HD resolution.

Hope it works for you. These players can be tricky to get them to work, especially when the literature does not provide much info. Hopefully is not gonna "choke" because the bitrate is too high this time. Any Video Converter had a "Cut", edit function. I would just encode some short clips, 5 minutes or so(maybe try to cut a scene with some action, movement), with different settings/codecs/bitrates, and compare results. Would save you some time.
Done. The possible frame sizes are 720x480 and 720x576 (at the most). The codecs have to be mpeg4 and mp3, the others can't be read. Now, before i convert the whole movie, do you think i could maintain some quality by choosing a higher bitrate. I converted the samples with 4000. Which would you recommend?
