I live in America and in most of the time some documentaries and films are in PAL format. If I have DVD files on the computer I can choose to interact with the menus but as soon as I burn it and play it in any home player they does not recognize it, obvious by the change of region. I use of a program that let me record the PAL format to NTSC format named ConvertXtoDVD 3 but with one exception, does not let me record the interactive menus. SOME SUGGESTIONS Thanks
Region coding only applies to commercial movie disks - once the movie has been ripped and is on the PC, region coding does not apply. The problem is that the EU and Australasia use PAL format for DVD's and North America uses NTSC. Many North American standalone players will not accept a PAL disk. You either convert the PAL movie to NTSC - and lose the menu's or create new menus yourself - which is a pain. Or buy a DVD player that can accept PAL disks (many Philips players can do this). A third way is to leave the ripped files as PAL and change the PAL/NTSC flags to trick the player into accepting the burned disk. If it works the menu will be usable. http://forum.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/showthread.php?t=25689
