Hello guys!I need some help for mkv playback.

I've been trying to play a mkv file using WMP 9. It works, but the picture looks too dark if I check the "Use Overlays" option box under "Video Acceleration" in Options > Performance > Advanced. Even scenes which are supposed to be bright and in sunshine look as if they were shot in the evening without lighting (I hope you get the idea).

But when I clear this check box the colours appear normal (normal skin colour, normal brightness, for example) but the picture is noticeably pixelated and blocky.
I'm using the Matroska pack (combined community codec pack). I'm not familiar with tech stuff so I can't find the source of the problem.

Any suggestions about what I should do to get rid of both the brightness problem and the pixelation problem and get normal video? Many thanks in advance!

Here are some info about the file I was trying to play (I found them using VLC player):

    video codec: avc1
    resolution: 624*256
    frame rate: 25

    audio codec: mp4a
