winavi crashs xp solved

Sup crew,

Just stumbled on this by accident.

I install winavi on fresh install, everything works great, np. I install Adobe CS4, and now winavi crashes constantly, i got memory access errors, i got diver.dll errors, i got Dr. Watson pitching fits, winavi is basically unusable. I don't put 2+2 together until i go to update my codec pack months later. When i uninstall the old codec pack my XP system informs me that Adobes CS4 install has broken over a dozen of the system codecs, including half a dozen from ZJ Media - do i want to remove these entries from the registry?

???

Uh...yeah. Thinking I am on to something here, i also uninstall winavi, and reboot.

Now i install the updated codec pack, reinstall winavi, and everything is working great again.

Now i'm thinking, lots of us use Adobe, but we're not normally aware that when we install one of thier suites that it is breaking a bunch of our system codecs.

It's an easy fix as you can all see. Hope this helps...
