So I backup all of my DVDs but on the backups I been stripping the extra audio, subtitles, menus and trailers to save space and remove the stuff I don't care for. My question is fairly simple I hope, in audio there is almost always a AC 5.1 and AC 2.0, if you removed the 2.0 audio would 5.1 convert to 2.0 on normal speaker setup? I just see options to remove a extra 200mb-500mb of space if it will. Thank you very much for your time.
I remove any 2.0 stuff in favor of HD 5.1 audio. Some here say very few people have 5.1. I beg to differ. Most people I know have some type of multi-channel audio. My Denon amp is 7.1 but show me audio that has been encoded with 7.1. I remove all trailers, subtitles and weak audio stuff. If you don't have decent equipment just leave the PCM audio intact. Jeff
Well appreciate the replies. I use a normal 2.1 stereo setup on my PC and I have a surround sound setup on my TV via my fisher. I am looking more towards my grandparents for example who borrow my DVDs often. They have a older TV but on my normal 2 speaker TV I have no problems. The issue I have is if its not needed why did they add the lower form of audio?
